OUR BIG IDEA

As stated on the homepage, everything we do at Root and Branch is driven by belief. Yes, we do grow, make and create, and actually, a whole lot more besides, all inspired, empowered and informed by what we believe about the world around us and the people who inhabit that world.

Right at the core is the belief that we are all made in the image of God, a Christian doctrine with many facets, one of which is that every man, woman and child is wired to make the world a better place. We all have what it takes to bring beauty into the lives of others, to care for one another and the environment in which we live.

Root and Branch is all about making that happen by creating a “cycle of transformation”. Let’s explain:

All our products and services are grown, made or created by ordinary people doing something they love to do even without being paid.
They’re committed to the highest ethical and environmental standards, always seeking to put something back and not to take anything out.
Our customers are people who believe that beauty can be created without ruining the environment or exploiting vulnerable people, and they love the idea of 100% of the profits being donated to credible charitable purposes.
Along with support for local charities nominated by our partners, profits and given to the Root and Branch Foundation, investing in young lives in the most deprived townships in South Africa, and in their communities.
Members of those communities are trained and equipped to make products to add to our range, earning vital funds to support their families at the same time as re-investing in the cycle of transformation.

Root and Branch is actually two entities – Root and Branch Products Ltd (Company Registration Number 11221695) and Root and Branch Foundation, registration with the Charity Commission currently pending.
